On Saturday, 5th April, KL won the toss and elected to field first. In the match reduced to 37 over due to wet conditions, Penang scored a total of 153 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Skipper Darvin Muralitharan scored 42 runs not out, the others were Varun Nadesh 32, Kavintheran Kumar 26 n.o. & Muhammad Bazeegh 19 runs. Hran Weranga took 2 wickets for 23 runs. Kuala Lumpur did not have any difficulty as the reached the target in 23.2 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. In the 8 wicket victory, inform opener, Sheikh Nasir hit 112 runs of 75 ball with seven 4s & six 6s. Youngster Virandeep chipped in 15 runs.
The scenario in the 2nd match on Sunday at the same PSC Oval, was completely different, Having won the toss, Kuala Lumpur opted to bat only to score 126 runs all out in 32.4 overs. This time round Sheikh Nasir only managed 24 runs, while the rest of the runs came from Fikri Makram 15, Vivegan Danapalan, Niroshan De Silva, Neville Liyanga & Shahrulnizam Yusof had similar figure of 11 runs Penang Kavitheran Kumar was the bowler who did the damage by claiming 5 wickets for 32 run in his 9.4 overs spell. Shankar Goonasagaran took 2 for 13 runs in 3 overs. With a small target Penang should have got the victory but it was not to be as they were bowled out for 121 in 42.2 overs which gave KL the win by 5 runs. It was Neville Liyange who did the damage taking 5 wickets for 19 runs in 9.2 overs. Shahrulnizam Yusof took 2 for 14. The Penang batsmen who did their best was Pavitheran Nadaesan 28 runs, Kevintheran Kumar 17, Russel 16 runs n.o, Shankar Goonasagaran 12, Muhammad Bazeegh 11 & Harvindran Rajendran 10 runs.
