Kuala Lumpur Cricket Association (KLCA) is an association which has embarked seriously on a very systematic Junior Cricket Development Programme. Over the years, KLCA not only has produced many young cricketers who went on to represent the senior side but also went on to represent the country at various national levels. KLCA can also be applauded as the only State CA having had organised an Annual International Youth Cricket Carnival and an Age Group Competition especially for teams within the state. Knowing that today's development efforts will be the result of todays development efforts will see success in the future, KLCA embarked on this systematic development program and and also the anticipated financial impact that comes along.
On 7th December 2013, A Charity dinner and a cricket match with Arul Suppiah, World-Record holding Malaysian cricketer was organised to raise funds and awareness for local worthy causes as part of his benefit year celebrations. Not only was KLCA instrumental in having Arul as host, they had Cricket World Cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga of Sri Lanka as guest of honor to add spice to the fund raising event. Arul himself is a product of KLCA Junior Cricket Development Programme, a system that discovered and nurtured many other local talents. The uniqueness of the Fund raising dinner was not only as a benefit year celebration for Arul or only raising funds for development program, as proceeds from the gala dinner and the cricket match was shared among Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF) and the KLCA Junior Cricket Development Programme. The initiative by KLCA goes on to show that the 'true spirit of cricket' prevails in KLCA as they see that through cricket, they can get many to come together not just for cricket but also for a truly worthy cause.
